A parking-garage restoration plan may call for defined concrete removals while the surrounding structure remains. That is not the same project as demolishing the garage. Use the responsible restoration professional's drawings to identify the assembly and removal limits before requesting a demolition assessment.
Distinguish the intervention
| Project direction | Information needed for removal |
|---|---|
| Local surface or slab work | Specified layer, boundary and receiving repair condition |
| Designed structural removal | Engineer's requirements for retained construction and temporary conditions |
| Complete garage teardown | A separate whole-structure plan and site-removal boundary |
Steelpoint assesses its concrete-removal contribution against the project information. The service does not establish corrosion diagnosis, post-tension repair, hydrodemolition capability or a structural-repair warranty.
Identify what the concrete contains and serves
A visible damaged area does not define the removal depth or structural role. The responsible professionals resolve reinforcement, tendons, embedded services and the relationship to adjacent construction. The unknown-floor-system guide helps bring those uncertainties into an enquiry without prescribing a method.
The removal contractor should receive a defined instruction and the required conditions, not be asked to develop the repair design while exposing the area.
Coordinate work zones with the retained garage
Mark the proposed area and the access/loading route. Management and the GC review vehicle movement, building functions and any intended partial use. A small patch on a drawing does not establish that parking can continue alongside it.
Support, protection and the treatment of exposed retained construction need explicit scope owners. New concrete, waterproofing and return-to-use requirements remain with the responsible repair and design team.
Compare the receiving surfaces
An illustrative local repair package may need a specified exposed surface for the restoration contractor. A designed structural replacement can require a different removal boundary and temporary condition. Neither is an automatic measure of Steelpoint's acceptance; methods and construction are assessed per project.
Request a defined removal assessment with the restoration drawings, engineer/GC contacts, actual assembly information and receiving requirements. Identify whether the enquiry concerns a retained-garage repair interface or the separate structural-demolition service.
